"On May 9th, Pete Athans, Geoff Tabin, Conrad Anker, Kristoffer Erickson and Michael Brown made an impressive 21 hour round-trip push up the southwest ridge reaching over 20,000 feet. Jiban, you were so at ease with us, making us feel like it was all under control. When we come to a country for the first time, not knowing what to expect, it's nice to know you will be there to pick us up, get us transportation, set up good accomodations. You have good connections and people respect you wherever we went.

We want you to take care of those that Guide and porter for you so they may learn from you how to be a leader. The Annapurna Trek is a personal achievement of satisfaction for those who complete it. We are very fulfilled and glad it was a part of our life experience. It is also a trek for us to respect the Nepalese people for the conditions they live in, working hard to accomodate the foreigners. Nepal is a beautiful country! The Annapurnas are majestic and magical. We will cherish these memories forever! Thank you Jiban! And thank you to my brother Chris for sharing his love of the Himalayan mountains and culture to inspire us to go on this trek.

P.S. Jiban, I continue to play tennis and will be better the next time we play!! Thank you for your time to play and steam with us.

Nelspruit - "We were desperately trying to free her. But then she just stopped struggling." This is how an emotional Eric Dixon on Sunday described the tragic accident in which his friend and rowing partner drowned near Nelspruit on Valentine's Day.

Laetitia Scheepers, 30, a physiotherapist from Nelspruit and a member of the Lowveld rowing club, drowned on Saturday after her canoe became trapped under a tree trunk. "We desperately tried to free her, but it was too late," Dixon said on Sunday.

She been in Nepal did Everest base camp trek and start plan to climb 8000m mountains from year 2010.

Langtang Valley and Yala Peak - Ganja La and Naya Khang - Gosainkunda - Chitwan National Park - Annapurna Circuit Fall 2008

Life has been very busy in the 6 weeks we have been back – and I suddenly realised I had not sent you a formal not of thanks for a really wonderful trip. It was a pretty ambitious program – and went without a hitch.

Feel free to use the following either on your web site or as an email to anyone asking for a reference.

In October 2008 our group of 19 walkers and runners arrived in Nepal with a pretty ambitious program. While a core goal was to run the Annapurna Circuit in seven days, we also wanted to experience a couple of trekking peaks and introduce the group to both camping and tea-house trekking. The result was a very crowded program with no spare days. Jiban organised all the activities in Nepal and the trip ran incredibly smoothly. As a result everyone achieved their goals (an almost un-heard of record for this type of trip).

We are already planning our next trips to Nepal and will certainly be working with Jiban. I would be pleased to provide a direct reference to anyone considering a trip with Jiban. Contact me via our web site at www.outdoor.co.nz.

For the record our trip included:

Langtang Valley and Yala Peak
Ganja La and Naya Khang
Gosainkunda
Chitwan National Park [Wildlife Excursion]
Annapurna Circuit
(Besi Sahr to Birethanti via Thorung La and Ghorepani) in 7 days.

Les formally-thanks for a great time and we look forward to returning.

Namaste Jiban,

Thank you so much for your email. It was a pleasure to meet you as well, and experience the friendliness of your people and the beautiful scenery of Nepal. We are very grateful to you for your excellent organising and the wonderful guides and porters your company hired. You all helped to make our trip memorable and safe. I personally am especially grateful to Karki and Bikash. I could not have done the trek without their incredible support, but all the other guides and porters were fantastic too- Nime, Robbie, Santa, Depak (the wonderful cook!) and so on. I know Russell and Andrew were extemely impressed with Tshering and I felt happier knowing that they had such an experienced guide for the mountain climbs. I will not hesitate to recommend your company to people who are travelling to Nepal.

We have taken many great photos. Russell is away for work in New Zealand at the moment, but when he returns we will send you a selection that we think you would like. Once again, thank you. I hope we will keep in touch and let us know if you ever plan to visit Australia or New Zealand.

Kind regards

Jomsom Muktinath - Ghorepani & Annapurna Base Camp Trek - F08

Hi Jiban,

It was a great trek you organized for us. Everything worked better than a swiss clock. It's a miracle for us that we got on the Bankok flight. You are amazing! Please let me know how much I owe for the Business upgrade and how do you want me to pay for it. If I can use a credit card it will be good. It'll be a few weeks before we organize the 2000 pictures we took. And longer for the video. But you will get a copy. Now I have to convince my daughter to come to visit. She will.

Cheers,

Namaste Jiban,

We have quite an adventure coming home from Nepal. The stopover in Delhi was a little hectic. But we made it through and got home OK. I've been on an eating binge since I got back. I think I've gained all the weight back that I lost, maybe even a little more. Thanks for the excellent service. I will tell others who's interested about your firm.

Successful Trek to Everest Base Camp - Spring 2009

Namaste Jiban,

I just wanted to reach out and thank each of you for your help and support in making my Nepal/Everest Base Camp trip a reality and a huge success. I don't think it would have happened without the assistance and guidance that I received from the TNF team and Pete. Definitely met my expectations and more! Also I can't say enough about Jiban and his team, who took incredibly good care of us during our stay and trek. Needless to say, all of my TNF gear performed great, but wanted to call out the Windstopper jacket, which was a recommendation of Neil's. I wore this piece everyday, as an add on layer in the evening at lower altitudes and as a base layer at the higher ones. Can't say enough about it's utility and versatility - I would recommend it as a must have for any hiker or trekker.

Thanks again to all of you for your part in making a long time dream of mine come true.

All the best,

Sam Tucker

Well, where to begin ….

The short answer is that you should retain Jiban. There may be other outfitters who are as good (I don't know who they are), but there could be none better. Not only will Jiban and his local staff take a very personal interest in your trip, but you will leave with friends. In fact, my wife and I often correspond by email with Jiban's children.

If my mother wanted to visit Nepal, I would just have her let Jiban know what she was interested in and when she would arrive. That's it. He will take care of the rest - and the price will be more than reasonable. I took six people to Nepal several years ago and when it came time to settle up, I argued -- that we should pay more!

Jiban also "gives back" to the local community. He is very involved with Educate the Children of Alpine Ascents Foundation - Sherpa Education Fund (www.sherpafund.org). It speaks quite well of Jiban that he is not only concerned about those who are less fortunate, but that he is doing something about it at his own expense.

I have recommended Jiban and his staff to many people and have never gotten anything but positive feedback. He has arranged major climbing expeditions that I have participated in, treks that I have taken, and cultural touring around the Kathmandu Valley that should not be missed. In each case, he was personally involved. I really can't think of anything that went wrong. Obviously, Jiban can't control all the variables, but my experience is that he does a great job - even with the weather!

I terms of suggestions, I can recommend the trek to Mustang. This is part of the world that will soon vanish due to the Chinese - this makes the difficulty of the trek that much more rewarding. In spite of the daily exercise, though, my friends and I gained weight. Jiban's cooks are excellent! Also, be sure and leave several days for seeing the ancient kingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley. I did not do this until my fourth trip to Nepal - poor planning on my part!

If you do the Mustang trek, I will be happy to forward my trip notes. Also, please feel free to write me about specific questions.

Sincerely,

Andy Heiskell
